We are seeking a highly motivated mechanical / electronics engineer or experimental physisist with broadband test and analysis experience to join the Environmental laboratory staff of department Shared Services (ESS).
The department is responsible for environmental testing of avionics and space products according to broadband MIL, DO160 and ECSS test requirements.
Testing comprises common vibration and thermal testing and also special test methods.
Solid knowledge of test techniques and reporting tools (for test planning, execution, documentation and reporting, as well as for presenting test results to clients) Interdisciplinary comprehension of environmental testing and load effects Use of simulation tools like MATLAB / SIMULINK and basic knowledge of FEM to support the FEM modelling Capability of fluent writing and conversation in German and English
Planning, coordination and execution of general environmental tests (vibration test methods, thermal cycling and shock) and application of special test methods (MIL, DO and ECSS) Responsibility for timely and organizational project coordination (project management, manufacturing, environmental test laboratory) Compilation of test plans and test specifications Independent exploitation of test data and test reports in English Programming of data analysis routines in MATLAB and MS EXCEL VBA Theoretical analyses of test results (vibration, microvibration, thermal) and recommendations for hardware improvements Support of analyses by simulation in MATLAB / SIMULINK Weighting of test results and presentation to the customers, including stand-alone technical notes on newly arising technical questions Support of FEM analyses by test results, assisting model parameter optimization Programming and modification of LABVIEW-based software for test stand control Extension of existing handbooks on vibration and microvibration with theoretical background information and instructions for test equipment operation
Bachelor's or master´s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or comparable studies Two years of experience in mechanical system analysis methods and dynamics of rotating machinery or condition monitoring Broadband knowledge in the domains of mechanics, electronics, sensors, physical measurement techniques, test load parameters and dependencies Knowledge of physical background and applicability and limits of common test and measurement methods Practical experience using usual lab measurement test equipment Good knowledge of signal and data acquisition and related processing Experience in MATLAB / SIMULINK simulation and data presentation Experience in Microsoft Office VBA programming (Excel, Word) Experience with software tools for test stand programming, data acquisition, experimental monitoring and automation Basic understanding of FEM modelling methods Communication skills within the team and to management Pronounced analytical thinking and capability to establish root cause analyses Independent, solution-oriented and flexible style of working NATO-citizen, due to work on classified projects Speaking and writing in German and English language (at least B2 grade)
